Abstract

Graphene is a promising material for nonlinear THz applications owing to its high third-order susceptibility and tunable optical properties. The study uses graphene ribbons integrated at the interface of topological photonic crystals to enhance third-harmonic generation (THG) at low THz frequencies. Coupled simulations model graphene’s optical and thermodynamic responses under THz photoexcitation, incorporating photoinduced hot-carrier effects within a multiphysics computational framework. The work examines how elevated carrier temperature influences THG and reports enhanced conversion efficiency in a design operating in reflection and transmission modes.
