Abstract

This comprehensive study theoretically examines electronic subband structures and transport properties of cove-edged zigzag graphene nanoribbons using a tight-binding model and Green's-function technique. The work shows that the band gaps of cove-edged zigzag graphene nanoribbons are governed by graphene quantum-dot size, explores effective-mass trends near conduction-subband edges, analyzes tunneling currents in finite ribbons with edge defects and different electrode couplings, and investigates Coulomb-blockade transport through boron-nitride-textured graphene quantum dots.
