Abstract

Graphene-based van der Waals heterostructures take advantage of tailoring spin-orbit coupling (SOC) in the graphene layer by proximity effect. At long wavelengths near the Dirac points, proximitized graphene can be modeled by effective SOC Hamiltonians. This work performs large-scale magnetotransport calculations, including transverse magnetic focusing and Dyakonov-Perel spin relaxation, to identify signatures that distinguish conventional Rashba SOC from radial Rashba SOC and to analyze the effects of Dresselhaus SOC and in-plane magnetic-field swapping symmetries.
