Abstract

We develop the quantum theory of DC thermal noise (DTN) in photocurrents in bulk crystals under optical electric fields. The work shows that DTN in time-reversal-invariant systems is linked to the quantum metric and can persist at zero temperature with a 1/T divergence. The effect is illustrated for massless Dirac materials including graphene, topological-insulator surfaces, and Weyl semimetals, and the low-temperature total noise spectrum is predicted to peak at ωp = 2|µ|.
