Abstract

We propose a 2D graphene-based platform for nanoscale coherent interaction of surface plasmon fields with resonant atomic ensembles localized between two graphene sheets separated by a dielectric slab. Using Maxwell-Bloch equations, the work derives graphene surface plasmon modes, a modified pulse area theorem, and analytical and numerical solutions showing stable propagation of isolated surface plasmon pulses at fractional pulse areas relative to π. The model is discussed as a route toward compact multimode nanoscale quantum memory and integration with other quantum devices.
